That was fun… we’d like an encore, please!

Maraming salamat, UP Symphony Orchestra! We enjoyed the collaboration between our university musicians and our Performing Arts Medicine team from the PGH Department of Rehabilitation Medicine in this series of three musicians’ health talks. Dr. Ria Panis and Ms. Florence Culaba (psychologist) talked about ergonomics and mindfulness, respectively, before their Saturday rehearsal at the University Theater lobby. This is their preferred rehearsal space right now, since it is just across from the University of the Philippines College of Music where all their seats, music stands, instruments, etc. are stored – much easier to bring these across the driveway, instead of putting them all in a truck for transport to another building on campus. Much easier logistically!

It was a two-way street – we learned as much from you, as you did from us (especially from conductor Prof. Chino Toledo and manager Bernice Go). We’re happy to extend the series to next year: we asked the musicians which health issues they would like to know more about. We would also like to open it up to other musicians and musician groups – performing arts health needs a holistic approach that includes artists and educators in addition to us healthcare people.

To all of us: BRAVI! 🙂
