44. Returning to the Room & Waiting to Pass Gas

November 4, 2022

Update. [Late post – wrote this about 6 hours earlier today]

Good morning! Finally in hospital room at 2:10 AM [early Friday morning]. Got anesthesiology and ob-gyne clearance to leave the recovery room at 11 PM or so, but of course babies being born could not wait and the delivery room complex became busy. Well, I did not deliver a baby, just a uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries so I was not the most critical patient on the unit 🙂 It was OK, I got to snooze a bit. Pain was bad earlier (I guess it was like giving birth, haha) but tolerable now. Appreciate all our mothers more, they went through a lot!

[Real time update at 8:30 AM]

Several doctors have rounded on me. I’ve tolerated oatmeal, a chicken sandwich and a banana for breakfast. Pain seems to be OK for now. Doreen closely inspects one of four tiny incisions on my belly. These are covered with waterproof dressing… hooray for being able to shower soon 🙂

Urinary catheter has been removed. Goals for today are to fart and pee, because if I meet both goals I can go home later this afternoon (Friday afternoon, Nov 4th). So that’s #1 and #2-ish. Let’s go! (Pun intended)

Thanks everyone for prayers and good thoughts. Much appreciated!
