I was chatting with my medical school classmates Fil and Mae about our research project, when Fil (Filomar Tariao, aka “doctor Fil” to his students) mentioned he would be presenting our findings at a local Singapore event: the May 2023 Sports Medicine Association Singapore – Performing Arts Medicine Special Interest Group meeting. I half-jokingly asked if he needed moral support. This snowballed rapidly… I booked flights and a hotel room; aside from the meeting, we were able to arrange a visit to the sports medicine/performing arts medicine clinic at Changi General Hospital with Dr. Mandy Zhang. It was a pleasure learning and discussing with the Singapore PAM group – hopefully we can have more of these meetings across Southeast Asia! Special shout out to our meeting host Akiko Otao at her vocal arts school The Voice Company, whose impressive view of downtown and Marina Bay. After Friday’s work-related stuff, we did the tourist bit over the weekend before I flew back to Manila on the red-eye early Monday morning flight. Thank goodness I had nothing scheduled for Monday!
