49. Performing Arts Medicine Around the World
November 19, 2022
I participated in this webinar representing the Philippines, and learned so much from the experiences of a diverse group of healthcare professionals from the United Kingdom, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Norway, Romania, South Africa, Singapore and Australia.
The webinar is available here, although at this time it may only be accessible to members of the Performing Arts Medicine Association:

This was also the day I also chose to finally ditch the hat!
I had enough hair cover, and even my “elegant hat” somehow did not match the formal barong Tagalog-inspired blouse. Doreen and Dave were present for emotional support. I decided to record my 10-minute talk, because (1) I could edit it and take away all the “ums”, “ahs” and long pauses,* and (2) to avoid the problems that third-world internet may pose. So glad I did that recording and decided not to present in real time – the internet at home disconnected in the middle of my talk and I “left” the Zoom video conference! I was able to get back online a few slides before my recorded talk ended, and do a little commentary at the end. The Q&A portion went smoothly too.
*This is due to “chemo brain” – I’ve had word finding difficulties, even with working with presentation slide decks I have used before. Case in point: I recorded a talk that was supposed to last between 20-25 minutes, and the raw, unedited video was 44 minutes because of the above “ums”, “ahs” and long pauses. It is one of my new “pandemic skills”.
