25. Hot Flashes and Eyebrows
July 20, 2022
Update. I think I’ve started experiencing brief hot flashes in the last week. Here’s Doreen joining me in front of the electric fan. Chemotherapy can induce ovarian suppression and failure, hasten the arrival of menopause, and since I am at about the age that perimenopause can happen… no big surprise. It was inevitable, but just arrived sooner than I expected.
We also had a brief “welcome back” photo for the (unwanted) part of me that went to Amsterdam for further testing back in May. The samples arrived here at home last week, and I returned them to the hospital to get my money deposit back.
Doreen approves of my bucket hat with adjustable circumference. It helped yesterday, when a sudden gust of wind blew the hat away. The tighter circumference and snug fit gave me a bit more time to secure the hat – it would have blown off faster if it wasn’t as snug.
And finally… I think my eyebrows have started falling off. They were naturally lightly hairy to begin with, but I’ve spotted a few eyebrow-length hairs on the iPad recently. No worries. Doreen is ready for that too.
