Health Screening at the UP College of Music (DIVA Protocol)
We were busy this week!
Thank you very much to the University of the Philippines College of Music (UPCMu) for hosting our group last September 9 and 10 for the students’ health screening event. We saw dancers and musicians, undergrads, postgrads and even some staff and faculty during the two days we spent in Diliman.
Our team from the Performing Arts Medicine Advocates National Association of the Philippines (PAMANA PH), the Philippine General Hospital Department of Rehabilitation Medicine (PGH DRM) and the UP College of Human Kinetics (CHK) Sports Physical Therapy team (yes, the same people who see our varsity athletes, including interns from the UP College of Allied Medical Professions) used the Dancers, Instrumentalists, Vocalists and Actors (DIVA) screening protocol – likely the first time it’s been used here in the Philippines! The DIVA has two general parts – a self-report questionnaire and a physical examination by healthcare professionals. We will be presenting our findings to the UPCMu community in the next couple of months, as this event gave us a better picture of the common (and sometimes uncommon) health needs at the college.
