Graduation, again! Lukan Doctors this time.
Second graduation rites in less than a week, this time at the St. Luke’s Medical Center College of Medicine-William H. Quasha Memorial. Graduates shift their beret tassels from right to left to signify their new status, then ascend the stage to receive their hood and diplomas from school administration (in contrast – see previous post: University of the Philippines College of Medicine students receive their hoods from parents). Graduation speaker was political activist, mathematician and former UP Diliman Chancellor Fidel Nemenzo. Later in the ceremony the students recited a batch pledge (a personalized Hippocratic oath) that they wrote in their first year of medical school.
We faculty members were allowed to wear academic dress according to where we graduated, so you’ll see traditional togas and the sablay sash among the faculty. I made good use of the Filipiniana dress before it goes to the dry cleaners
(sulitin na iyan, sayang naman kasi mahal magpa-dry clean!)
