Artists en Pointe Talks – Dance Medicine Series 2026

Artists en Pointe Dance Studio in Alabang, Muntinlupa has an advocacy for grounding the art of dance in evidence-based medicine and science. The series of talks I helped organize this year included one by myself on how (and why) dance can continue for active older adults, followed by two from doctor-dancers: psychiatrist Lielanie Mae Aguilar-Pascasio on resilience in teenage dancers, and rehabilitation medicine physician Maria Lourdes Corazon Fernandez-Tapang on the science of exercise and motor learning in dance. Being the non-dancer among the group, I was happy to bring Drs. Aguilar-Pascasio and Fernandez-Tapang to the series because they had personal lived experiences with regard to growing up in the ballet studio and beyond into their medical careers. Many thanks again to Artists en Pointe Dance Studio for always supporting our efforts with in Performing Arts Medicine and PAMANA PH. The videos will eventually be available on their Youtube channel.
