A Holistic Approach to Dancer Wellness
That’s a wrap! Thank you World Dance Alliance Singapore for having us speak about the holistic approach to Dancer Wellness today, January 23, 2022 (Asia). Optimizing dancer health needs to address the physical, emotional and mental aspects of health – while you can focus on just one aspect, we must recognize that all of these components work together and affect each other.
Shout out to president Dr. Filomar Cortezano Tariao for organizing and moderating, and Dr. L. Mae Aguilar-Pascasio for providing lots of insight about the psychological and psychiatric aspects of Dance Medicine. I spoke about dance injuries, risk factors, prevention and recovery. We also had dancers Jason Yap and Maybelle Lek providing their personal insights. In addition to being a professional dancer, Jason Yap has a background in psychology and delves deeper into dance, dance science and more in his podcast.
Here are some reference links I posted in the Zoom chat to help answer some questions that we did not have time to address in the open forum.
