Dance-specific Physical Therapy (Physiotherapy) Collaboration… Woohoo!

This past week, my Rehabilitation Medicine colleague Dr. Ria Panis and I met up with En Pointe Health and Wellness Center owner and physical therapist (physiotherapist) Arlene Mackinlay. We are grateful to have finally met Arlene in person, after connecting through Dr. Mandy Zhang, a Singaporean physician colleague who specializes in sports medicine and performing arts medicine. Mandy and Arlene connected at the 2024 International Association for Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS) annual conference in Italy. Networking works!

Arlene brings to her practice 11 years of experience treating the dancers of the Hong Kong Ballet and wow, does it show! Many satisfied dancer clients have come to her by word-of-mouth marketing. So happy to have this collaboration… now we need to clone her and bring dance-specific physical therapy to the northern ends of Metro Manila and later to the rest of the country! While it was a field trip for me crossing from north to south (including traffic), Ria is establishing her clinical roots in southern Metro Manila so these are exciting times for promoting the health of Filipino dancers. En Pointe Health and Wellness Center is located in Centuria Medical Makati, an all-outpatient facility building in Makati City. During physical therapy sessions at En Pointe, patients/clients have a view of Makati and surrounding cities. The center also offers acupuncture, osteopathic services and [hopefully soon?] medical consultation as well.
