A night of Dance, Medicine, and Dance Medicine
December 10, 2023
What an awesome multidisciplinary panel discussion on a dancer’s ankle sprain – physiatry, orthopedics and rheumatology specialists at the Philippine Academy of Rehabilitation Medicine National Capital Region (PARM-NCR) quarterly scientific conference tonight.
The case conference discussion ended, and Dance Medicine Philippines was formally introduced to all of us tonight at PARM Mabuhay!
After all the serious the academic scientific stuff, we moved on to the fun part of the night. PARM held a dance contest among the Rehabilitation Medicine residency training institutions, featuring music and dance from various movie musicals.
Our own Philippine General Hospital residents, consultants and alumni won the top prize with a very energetic medley of songs from Mamma Mia. The Philippine Orthopedic Center garnered second place with classics Grease and Dirty Dancing, and also had the best male and female performers for the night. St. Luke’s Medical Center came in third with their Cell Block Tango from Chicago and bits from Magic Mike.
Whew. Our table’s consensus: ang hirap maging residente ngayon! (it is difficult to be a resident now) They have to do their usual medical work of seeing patients and reading about their patients, plus prepare for a dance contest like this. Kudos to them for putting on a great show last night!
